The Miniature Boxer Dog Breed![]() Pomeranians |  Newfoundlands |  Pit Bulls |  Boxers |  Eskimo Dogs The miniature boxer dog breed, also known as the Miniature German Boxer, has a wonderful history as a working dog as well as a bright future in homes and the workplace. This particular breed was started in Germany during the 19th century. An ancestor of European mastiff types known as the German Bullenbeiszer and the English Bulldog, it was bred for use in hunting and pulling carts. Later, the easily trainable Boxer dog breed was used in livestock herding and even circus acts and theater shows. The name of the Boxer is English, despite their co-German heritage. This name was given because of its punchy fighting style, as well as their constant use of their front paws in everyday tasks. The miniature boxer dog breed is a terrific addition to a loving home. This dog loves to work as well as play. A new owner must be dominant and aware that this particular pet thrives on attention. Without a good amount, the dog can be prone to depression and running away. In the right environment though, the miniature boxer dog breed gives energetic welcomes to visitors and family members, is a wonderful companion for joggers, and a protector of its family (human and other pets). If a family has children and wants to add a Boxer to the family, beware of the dogs’ love of jumping and wrestling. Smaller children should be allowed to grow up a bit before this dog is made a family member. The miniature boxer dog breed is also a popular choice in police and military work. The high intelligence level of these dogs, as well as their love of hard work makes them perfect for use in these areas. Their training starts at a young age though. They are watched after closely and given strict obedience lessons. After their training is over, the Boxer dog breed can be used for standard K9 work, search and rescue missions, as well as watch dogs. No matter what the Boxer does, it will put all its energy into it.
