Looking At A Rare Dog Breed

Pomeranians  |  Newfoundlands  |  Pit Bulls  |  Boxers  |  Eskimo Dogs

A rare dog breed is really somewhat special. Anything that is rare is somewhat special and that drives up its value (real and perceived) even if it is a dog. This is what drives the world of collectibles. Items that are rare are the most prized, and a burgeoning collector’s market is the ultimate result.

The world of dog breeding is no different as a rare dog breed will certainly attract people’s attention. A rare dog breed would be a prized item among dog lovers who would surely give such a unique animal a loving home. (Hopefully they will not just see a rare dog breed as nothing more than an object) So how many rare dog breeds are there?

Well, first there needs to be a definition put forth as to what constitutes a rare dog breed. By definition, a rare dog breed is a dog that the American Kennel Club does not formally recognize. Common rare dog breeds (Relatively speaking. Something common can not be rare) are such breeds as a Spanish Water Dog, the English Shepard, the Maremma among many others. (Actually, there is a finite number of ‘rare dogs’ and that number is limited to about 130)

With the growing popularity of rare dog breeds there has been a growing interest in rare dog breed shows. This should come as dogs shows have grown in popularity greatly these years. A rare dog breed show can definitely be fun and enjoyable because they allow people who love dogs to experience for the first time quite a number of unique dogs that they may never have seen before, not even as a picture in a book or magazine. It can be interesting to see how these rare dog breeds act as each breed has its own unique personality and traits. People can have fun speculating on which dog’s behavior reminds them the most of one of the "recognized" dog breeds.

A rare dog breed can be an interesting animal and those who treasure such unique creatures, these rare breeds can provide a faithful and loving dog who will be a loving pet.
